What Makes Tall Trees Kindergarten Unique?

Recent Recognition for Tall Trees

In 2011 Tall Trees was short listed for the National NMT (Nursery Management Today) awards- for our Outdoor Education.

'Highly Commended' at the 2010 Nursery World Awards

Soil Association Award
In April 2010 inspectors from the Soil Association granted us a Gold  Soil Association Award for the nutrition we provide for all the children at Tall Trees. Again , this is a rare achievement with only 2 other nurseries nationally gaining this status.

Our Outdoor Educational Ethos
At Tall Trees we provide extensive and inspiring outdoor space for all the children. From the smallest babies to our pre-school children, all are encouraged to explore the safe but natural freedom of our grounds. The Forest and Nature School within our grounds offers stimulating and engaging natural outdoor learning activities. We have a dedicated Nature School area where children are free to explore within a carefully planned myriad of natural outdoor exploratory opportunities. From making mud pies to imaginative play with wooden blocks, musical exploration, weaving, sorting natural materials and even constructing ball channels from bamboo sticks.

In addition, our Forest School activities offer our older pre-school children the opportunity of more advanced outdoor active learning opportunities such as campfire cooking and working with tools etc.

Our Montessori Ethos
The Tall Trees indoor educational focus is drawn down through the Montessori ethos. The Montessori method of education provides very advanced learning opportunities for young children. For example our pre-school children have the opportunity to learn Geography, early Mathematics and Language activities as well as Scientific concepts- to name but a few.

Our Natural Ethos
Rooms - Our rooms are decorated in calm neutral colours, using only natural solvent free organic paints. Where possible our rooms are furnished with natural materials. This is so that the children's environment is as natural, calm, beautiful and homely as possible.

For our under 2's we prefer to provide a predominance of natural heuristic play through Treasure baskets. These are filled with natural and household objects designed to capture babies and toddlers imagination through sensorial exploration. These include, cotton reels, whisks, tea strainers, wool, silk fabrics, etc. Throughout other rooms at Tall Trees we endeavour to provide as many natural play opportunities as possible.

We have a natural cleaning focus at Tall Trees. We use primarily natural eco cleaning sprays, steam cleaning machines and totally natural citrus air sprays as well as other eco products. Our nappies are purchased from 'Nature Botts'- and are also eco friendly with no harmful gels against babies skin.

Our Nutrition
The food our children are provided with is of the highest quality. We employ a full time trained chef who home cooks all our dishes from the very best ingredients. 95% of our ingredients are  Organic and/or locally sourced. We are very proud to have been awarded a Gold Award  in recognition of our catering by the Soil  Association.
